There is nothing better than the smell of a real Christmas tree. So in the olden days they used to use things like popcorn in America and more wooden decorations. I really love the warm glow of the lights and I like them when they are on a gentle twinkle setting. I like my trees stuffed full of decorations, nothing worse than a really bare tree. Here I am decorating my parent in laws tree this Christmas just gone. It's so nice to look at the collection of decorations that different people have.

Beautiful hand painted decorations give the vintage feel and make a very elegant tree decoration. These decorations will last a life time and still look timeless when there are little ones gathered round our tree in years to come. With decorations it is worth spend a bit more on decorations which leaves you with a nicer looking tree. Some baubles will make your tree look cheap even if you if you have lots of lovely decorations. I also say not to go mass produced as you will end up with the tree looking like it came from your local supermarket. You can spend a bit more but not a fortune and I find by making some gives it a very unique look. If you're arty like me then you can do a lot of your own decorations. Hobby Craft has sooooo much to use and if you get creative then go into second hand shops. I only had time to make a few of my tree decorations as I wasn't well last year and didn't have much energy. So my tree (above and to the left) was mostly shop bought decorations but some where bought from a Christmas market and Christmas shop. There's one on the isle of while which I found on a stroll with husband while visiting my parent in laws. Christmas markets that have artisans are a great bet to finding unique and beautifully made decorations and gifts too.
When I was younger my parents would take my brother and I too London to look at all of the I department shop windows for their displays and our special trip to Hamleys. At Christmas it was just such a magical time seeing beautiful displays and toys stacked high. My favourite floor was the stuffed toy section and the massive sweet section where we would accidental spend £20 on sweets (which we ate on the way home and the felt sick in my dad's car which I hasten to add after being told that we would ruin our dinner if we ate them all)
As my blog name suggests I am slightly addicted to the Christmas build up and my nickname is mouse. I spend most of the year collecting ideas to make, give and try to out do my last effort!
That's all for now! I hope that all you Christmas period is cover up in sparkles and cheer!
Xx
